Cold war between China - USA, because of Iran and Taiwan
In the last few days China and the U.S.A have been putting pressure on one another in a way that bring memories of the cold war between the Unite States of America and the Soviet Union.
The U.S.A pressuring China
The U.S.A is used to pressure and to bully other countries and states, but China that can be considered at the same time a developing country and a superpower.
U.S. decisions and plans can be blocked by the Chinese veto in the security council, China is the main obstacle in front of the American band wagon, Russia silence can easily be bought by a promise not to block them from accessing the W.T.O , all the other countries practically eat from the U.S. hand.
Sanctions on Iran
The U.S. needs to deter Iran from acquiring Nuclear know-how, because an Iranian nuclear know how will neutralize the fear card held by the U.S. and that is represented by the Israeli Nuclear Weapons and military superiority in the middle east.
U.S. persuaded Russia to join France, Britain, Germany and the United States in a new round of U.N. sanctions against Iran. China remains the lone holdout, urging diplomacy to talk the Iranians into cooperation.
China objecting further sanctions on Iran, led the U.S. and it's allies to threaten China of international pressure and increasing isolation.
6.4 billion dollar arms sale to Taiwan.
To put more pressure to make China accept further sanctions on Iran, the U.S. government on Friday notified Congress of its nearly 6.4 billion-U.S.-dollar arms sale package to Taiwan.
China sees this as an act that violently interferes in China's internal affairs, undermines China's national security, and casts a shadow on China-U.S. relations.
Why China objects further sanctions on Iran
The U.S. have invaded Afghanistan and Iraq, giving the U.S a military control on almost the entire region and half Asia.
Further sanction on Iran would probably put the country on it's knees, removing the last resistance to the U.S. Politics and dominance in the middle east region - the most rich region in Oil.
Oil is very important to the developing China, a reduction in the Oil quantities would hinder China's fast development and growth more than the others.
U.S. Cold War Russia/ China differences
It is very unlikely that tensions between both superpowers would increase to reach the cold war era hostility, for several reasons:
1- China has bought more than $1 trillion of American debt, the Chinese economy and the American economy are Co-dependent.
2- China is the U.S. 2nd biggest trade partner, the U.S. is china's biggest trade partner and Top Export Destination (2008)
